Moments of the Week – #17

A bunch of awesome moments from this week!

(have some of your own? to be featured in a future edition of MOW! :)

My last couple weeks in LA (for now): scenic yoga, creative food, and a movie—here we go!

My friend Ashley just received her yoga teacher certification, and invited a few close friends to Barnsdall Park in Hollywood for her first class! Beautiful setting and a great class—go Ash!! :)

The backyard view of my recent housesitting gig. Spent just about every afternoon on the grass soaking up the sun, and quite a few evenings hanging out on the porch…

I was also responsible for bringing in all the wedding gifts! Beginning to look like a C&B warehouse ’round there… :)

On an evening walk along Wilshire Blvd, I saw this through a window at LACMA. Each section is a screen that changes color every second, so it took a few minutes to grab this shot! :)

Another cool piece at LACMA!

Experimental cooking at its finest: sweet potatoes, mushroom, green peppers, and red leaf kale, all sauteed in garlic olive oil, with himalayan pink salt, rainbow black pepper, and fresh thyme!

And then a few nights later, I decided to make raw tacos: diced radish, carrot, and cucumbers, with nutritional yeast, chili powder, cayenne pepper, and avocado, all served on romaine lettuce leafs.

For the first time EVER, I visited Lake Shrine in the Pacific Palisades, an outdoor oasis for mindfulness, created by Paramahansa Yogananda. Beautiful spot, and it’s here that part of Gandhi’s ashes lie—the only known place outside of India.

Coupla gorgeous flowers at Lake Shrine…

The Lake Shrine lake, the “wall-less” temple in the background, and me. :)

My pal Viorica chatting with her friend Enrique (who works at Lake Shrine)—she knows him because of all the times she’s visited! :)

And what Sunday afternoon would be complete without a GIANT burrito at Real Food Daily. This wasn’t on my plate (very happy with the Grilled Veggie Wrap), but I couldn’t help but capture this awesomeness!!

My fourth week attending Marianne Williamson’s lectures, and I’d never sat so close! Absolutely awesome to hear her speak on A Course in Miracles, and so inspiring to watch someone do what they are here to do!

Went down to Santa Monica on a Tuesday evening for Sunset ! Here’s me in plank!

Gorgeous night right by the water’s edge and plenty of students showed up!!

Here’s Mr. Brad himself! His “normal” beach classes are every Saturday and Sunday morning (year-round!) at 10:30 am—and the classes were just named in the recent “Best of LA” awards in LA Magazine!

Enjoying a bowl of orzo salad at Paper or Plastik on Pico Blvd.

Snacks for the movies (not kidding!): green juice and smoothies! YUM!!

Made a new friend through my pal Electra: here’s Espree, cleaning up after the juicing fun! :)

And to close out my time in Los Angeles, I thought since I started with a movie (go Batman!), it was only fitting to end with one: this time, the independent feature Sleepwalk with Me, and the writer/star Mike Birbiglia was there for Q+A after!

He said how like most indie films, there was no ad budget for the movie, so he encouraged us to take pictures even though “these are going to look really bad.” Ha! Seriously—go check this out—a great film and a wonderful way to support the indie community!!
