Water, Water Everywhere

Environment is Everything. It’s one of the secret ingredients to a life of Nonstop Awesomeness.

I’ve talked about this before; as I think more about it, I believe “environment” encompasses many different elements, some parts Internal & others External, such as the thoughts we have, the words we use, and the people we’re around.

But to take the term literally, I also feel that our direct surroundings are crucial to thriving in life.

So literally – where are you? What do you see when you look around your space? What about your commute to work or on errands? Does what you see inspire you, fire you up, or relax you?

I found at least one of my muses: Water.

For me, it started in Seattle: where water is so prevalent (and I don’t mean the morning rain :-). It quickly became clear how much I gained from being around H2O and seeing it on a daily basis. For me, water is such an impressive reminder of nature’s power, beauty, energy & tranquility – all qualities that I choose to embody.

In a water-related example, here’s a video from my time on Oahu and my life on the North Shore – I talk mainly about placing your faith in the Universe, that it will provide if you truly commit to what you’re doing. I was a bit amazed at the opportunity I had here – just stunning what can happen when you focus on the enthusiasm, energy & positivity in life!

So a bit more about the environment…

After a couple months back in LA (from the PacNW), I drove down to Orange County for an audition; the route was all concrete – freeways, stores & malls – and it was killing me. I purposely took a route out of my way just so I could catch a little bit of coastline! On the 90-minute (!) drive home, I wondered how I would cope with that drive if I were cast. They decided to go in another direction… but I really felt that spending so much time where I was not excited by what I was seeing would affect me (and thereby my performance) – how could it not?

So what’s important for your environment? How can you incorporate that into your life each and every day?

I understand that not everyone can completely change their externals, but it’s all a matter of degree – what about the following suggestions…

If sunlight is important, could you move your desk outside or have it face a window? If nature gets you going, take a walk (or a drive) through the park while you’re out? If plants are your thing, visit a greenhouse (or add some plants to your place!). If it’s sand that does wonders for you, hop down to the beach once per week (or if you don’t live close – take a trip and collect a jar of it to put in your place). Whatever YOU are excited about, I invite you to bring it into your life in a fuller way. Take control over your environment and create surroundings that you LOVE!

And the second video today is from a fun time on the South Shore. Another place with tons (literally) of natural water, and it’s no surprise I’m in a good mood!
