A bunch of awesome moments from this week!
(have some of your own? to be featured in a future edition of MOW! :)
From Santa Barbara to San Diego to Solana Beach—here we go!
We feature a couple dogs this week—here’s the first one, from Santa Barbara. Gorgeous afternoon and a wonderful way to spend the first day of September (after the 3 hours of traffic!!!).
Prompted by my friend Melanie, here’s me “really smiling” at the Santa Barbara coast. :)
Fantastic vegan dinner with new pal Robert and (long-time pal) Melanie at Mary’s Secret Garden (seriously: go!!) in Ventura, CA.
On my train down to San Diego, I decided to play around with some of the options on my camera. Here’s “extreme color” mode probably somewhere near Newport Beach. Pretty cool, right?
Gettin’ a bit artsy with a self-photo here. I call this: “quiet moment with a nomad.” ;)
I happened to be in town for one of Chris Guillebeau’s $100 Startup book stops (was also there in Seattle!), and jumped at the chance to connect with many of the San Diego attendees from the World Domination Summit. Very fun night and quite a packed house—standing room only! (see if Chris is coming to your area)
It was time for a haircut, and upon paying, I noticed a sign for a free 5-minute massage. (Perhaps they liked me, ’cause I think I got closer to 10 minutes! :) And then they had some fun getting a bunch of pics after—if you’re in San Diego, stop in and say hi to the folks at Haircrest!
Adding to our morning meditation practice, my buddy Jacob and I committed to evening meditation as well, starting 9/1. Here’s my contribution from a beautiful afternoon in Balboa Park. I thought my shadow in the background was pretty fun. :)
Cooked dinner for Matt, my first host in San Diego (thanks Couchsurfing!): steamed broccoli, raw yam rice, and a stew of mushrooms, tomatoes, red peppers, kidney beans, onion, garlic, and thyme!
While hanging out with my buddy (and Radio Enso host!) Greg, we noticed this stick bug! He says he’d never seen one out here before—cool!! :)
Super easy (and inexpensive) ride up from San Diego on the Coaster train to the Solana Beach/Del Mar area, my “home” for the weekend.
And here’s Squid, ready for the morning walk!
Sunrise walk with new friends Squid (background), Candace (from the conference), and Patty (from Couchsurfing)!
I still get giddy when photos of mine come out like this (that is, looking really awesome!!!). Often, I just point and click, and am blown away at the result. I think a lot of it has to do with just being in the right spot to capture nature’s beauty…
Saw this sign driving around in Del Mar—how could I NOT stop?! Granted, the 25 were really small, so I went with 6 Reed-sized avocados for $5—still an amazing deal!!!
After a very full Friday at the Wide Sky Days conference, it was time to just kick back at the fire pit and hang out with all the unschooling parents! :)
