A bunch of awesome moments from this week!
(have some of your own? to be featured in a future edition of MOW! :)
From thrift shopping in Hollywood to Beach Yoga in Santa Monica to absolute beauty on Kauai—here we go!
My brother and I hit the in Hollywood to find him an ugly Christmas sweater for the round of parties this year. As we were perusing the aisles, we came across this gem: my brother thought it was tied to the remake of the movie Arthur (maybe it came out at Christmas?), but nope—I just learned (as I’m writing this), it was an animated movie neither of us had seen! Either way: he now owns it!! :)
It was really cool to be in town for the annual Actors’ Network Holiday party—I hadn’t been in 3 years, and the timing just worked out! I was also thrilled to see my buddy Ben receive an award for a member who most exemplifies what TAN stands for (congrats dude!!)! When I first saw this guy, I knew he was sharp, and made it a point to become friends. :)
Yup, right in the middle of the Hollywood and Highland outdoor mall, they built a winter wonderland—sledding included! :)
With only a few locations around LA, I’m glad I stumbled onto the restaurant Mendocino Farms! Here’s about them: “Mendocino Farms promotes eating seasonally and locally by sharing with our guests how easy it is to incorporate local produce in their sandwiches, salads and soups and how to navigate the Farmer’s Market to purchase that product from their Local Farmers.” LOVE that! The food was pretty outstanding (I got the chicken-salad on a cranberry walnut bread!), and the grass-covered seats are a nice touch, too! ;)
My buddy Ken and I were able to meet to see the show the Santaland Diaries (written and originally performed by David Sedaris on This American Life), so I suggested we eat at Golden Bridge Yoga right in Hollywood—the food (including the carrot cake!) was absolutely delicious!
Green Juice! Just kale, cucumbers, lemon, and an apple thrown into a juicer (thanks to Ann at LifeFood Organic for the recipe) and seriously: I did not expect this to taste as GOOD as it did! :)
Was walking around Venice looking at food options and stumbled upon Euphoria Loves Rawvolution. I thought, “this looks promising,” and the raw coconut pad thai definitely met expectations! WOW!!
Also on my walk in Venice, I came across this laundry-cart Christmas tree—neat. :)
And how could I spend on Tuesday near the beach and *not* go to Sunset ?! (That’s me on the right. :)
Cool pic: Brad’s camera stopped working, but it did snap this picture with only a half-open shutter of me in tree pose by the water. I really dig the angle of the shot—it’s lined up perfectly! :)
And here’s Brad, right before we headed into a short meditation as the sun disappeared over the water…
Welcome to Honolulu Airport!! I remember being here two years ago and hanging out in this courtyard—had some time before my next flight, so totally went down and grabbed some sun. One of the coolest airports I’ve ever been to! :)
Ah, Tristan—hadn’t seen him for a couple years and it’s like I never left…
Yes, I’m really loving it here. ;)
Here’s Tristan looking for ripe pomelo—it’s like an enormous grapefruit, with a drier texture and not as sour. LOVE eating fruit right off the tree. I’ve since been back to forage. :)
Part of the property we’re staying on: horses and goats roam.
The view from the balcony—those mountains on the left always knock me over: so green, so lush, so beautiful.
Tristan and his pops/my buddy Zander hangin’ out at the South Shore—I’d never been, ’cause North Shore is really the place to be! ;)
Back to our property in Wailua, one of the horsies hanging out near the chicken coop. Did I already mention how beautiful it is here?!
So awesome to be back in a tropical climate (and in December)—it’s been a busy year all over the place with lots of projects and work, and I’m SO grateful to be spending time and relaxing outdoors (!) on the Garden Isle… :)
Mahalo for being part of the journey!!
See ya in the New Year from somewhere else in the world!
